After several enjoyable years as a volunteer Janet decided that she would like to take on a more permanent role and embarked on undertaking her Early Years qualifications, joining the childcare team in November 2007.

Over the years she has become qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development and Level 4 in Leading and Managing a Community Based Childcare Setting.

Diane Head

After several years away gaining new qualifications Diane returned to Pewsham Preschool in 2010 as preschool administrator and is responsible for maintaining the preschool waiting list and registering of children.

Diane has since undertaken her NVQ Level 2 qualification in Childcare, Learning and Development and has since taken on the additional role of Preschool Assistant (Bank Staff) and is enjoying her new, varied and challenging role.

Sue Shipway
Preschool Assistant

Having always wanted a career in Childcare Sue undertook her level 2 and 3 childcare after leaving school at sixteen.

After raising her own family, Sue returned to childcare in 2004. Finding a lot had changed Sue immediately embarked on updating her qualifications to equip herself with the skills required to help her further the learning and development opportunities available to our children.

Having always kept a little of the child within herself Sue is always happiest when partaking in messy play with the children.

Jane Knight
Preschool Assistant

Jane has been part of the Pewsham team since November 2009 although she has a long history of working in early years since 1990 and obtaining her Diploma in Preschool practice in 1996.

Jane particularly likes working with children with speech and language difficulties and to this end has undertaken Makaton (a type of sign language) and BLAST (early years speech and language programme) training.

Jane currently runs the BLAST programme at Pewsham Preschool and works to ensure that all children who attend our setting get the support and professional assistance they may need to enable them to reach their full potential when they start school.

Helen Palmer

Preschool Assistant

Helen joined our team in September 2015 to enable her to update her Early Years Qualifications and take on a bank staff role.

Over the past year Helen has undertaken a one to one support role within the setting and has enjoyed learning more about supporting children's learning and development and putting this learning into practice.

Nicola Llewellyn
Preschool Assistant

Nicola joined our team in May 2017 bringing with her many years of experience as a childminder and working as bank staff within a nursery environment.

Nicola holds a Level 3 diploma in Early Learning and Childcare and is looking forward to working alongside other practioners, in a setting environment, to support children's learning and development and to continue her own professional development.

Sarah Clements

Sarah joined our team in March 2018, returning to childcare after a short break caring for her own young family.

Sarah has a wealth of experience working with preschool aged children as a Nanny and within early years’ settings, including working in a local district specialist centre where she gained valuable experience in working with children with a range of different special educational needs.

During her time at home looking after her own children Sarah also undertook and passed the BA (HONS) degree in early childhood studies and is now looking forward to putting into practice, and sharing with the team, what she has learnt.
